Description

The super affordable, SUPER DURABLE, SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT AND BEST ALTERNATIVE to old-fashioned steel or galvanised pipe systems.

  • Paying your workers for hours spent on the fields lugging heavy steel or galvanised pipes around?
  • Shelling out thousands for the smallest parts of steel pipe system?
  • Are your pipes getting stolen for scrap cash?

No more with Afriq Water's Quick Coupling HPDE Class 6 pipes!

It's so so sooooo simple. It's the system you know and grew up with, but this time, it's lightweight, it's super cheap without feeling cheap, and it's going to increase your yield.

Benefits of Quick Coupling HDPE Sprinkler Systems
  • Lightweight and easy to move - irrigate a field by moving one line where needed
  • Two latches ensure a quick, hassle-free connection and release, and easy assembly
  • Fittings friction-welded to pipe and connection sealed with a lip seal
  • Ideal for almost all topographies with leak-proof action due to sealing gaskets
  • Impact resitant and super durable as it's made from super strong materials
  • Modular system - customisable to fit your unique layout and design or work for you - whether that is a straight line or a block that suits a specific purpose.

It goes well with everything

The system can be used to support other irrigation systems e.g. dragline, or on its own as a sprinkler system or as a mainline for water transportation - we always recommend farmers use a combo of dripline and Quick Coupling HDPE sprinkler irrigation for insane yield boosts!

They're just built different

The system consists of HDPE pipes, normally 6m lengths (Afriq Water can manufacture in various pipe lengths) which are friction-welded and sealed with a lip seal to bright orange quick coupling latch fittings, ideal for almost all topographical conditions.

Super durability, super lasting

The smooth interior ensures low friction loss, increasing efficiency. Made to last in all climate conditions, from harsh frozen winters to extremely hot summers. UV-protected and extremely durable, Southern African harsh weather conditions and direct sunlight pose no challenge for this unique product.

Super lightweight, super moveable

A line of the system can be moved and assembled single-handedly as it is made from lightweight HDPE.

Why 5.8m and not 6m? / How does shipping work?

5.8m For Transport Reasons

Most couriers have limits on how long their truck beds are and/or how long your items can be, which, coincidentally, is 5.8m. To save you costs when transporting, we have these pipes specially made at 5.8 meter lengths so that it's A LOT cheaper for you to get to your farm than the 6m.

These pipes do not include free shipping. We use a local courier company that works with these pipes on the regular, and they're super reasonable. We only ask you what they ask us - we're not making money off courier costs, so don't worry.

We'll quote you on shipping once your order is complete, if you're not happy you're ALWAYS welcome to arrange for your own transport, that's totally fine.

For pipes that will be collected, just let us know and let us know if you prefer 5.8 or 6 meter lengths.

How Does This Affect My Sprinkler Radius

Most sprinklers work on a distance of 12m between sprinkler sets - just because the old-fashioned pipe systems are normally either 6 or 12m lengths. So, most sprinklers work from 11 meters upwards on 2 BAR and up. So really, it won't affect your spraying at all, only about 20cm per pipe length.

Uses
  • Supply water to tri-pods using draglines
  • Water transportation
  • Distribute water-soluble fertilizer
  • Preparing areas for seed germination
  • Wash salt, insects etc. from crops
  • Climate control
  • Frost mitigation
  • Fire prevention
  • Plant propagation
  • Sprinkler Irrigation
Specifications

HDPE Pipes

  • Pipes Lengths – 5.8m for pipes that will be couriered (made to order) / 6m for pipes that will be collected (unless otherwise requested)
  • Max BAR – 6 BAR

Fittings Pressure Ratings

  • 50mm to 90mm Male and Female Heads – 4.5 BAR

System layout / Installation

Check out our images for a full diagram! Making it easy peasy!

Step 1: Female Pump Connector

Connects to the water outlet valve in the field, to start a line of Quick Coupling pipes. Due to the lip-sealing method of this system, a female adaptor is used at the start of the line. If a male pump connector is required, it is available but know that it's not how this system is made to be used.

Step 2: HPDE 6m Quick Coupling Pipes

6m HDPE Pipes with male and female fittings on either side of the pipe, friction-welded on. Various pipe sizes are available, determined by the flow rate. Two pipes of 6m are used between each hydrant set, to get to 12m.

Step 3: Hydrant / Saddle

A foot piece that latches onto the pipes. The riser pipe is screwed into the top. This piece keeps the sprinkler system itself upright and stable. All Sprinkler Riser Coupling diameters have a 25mm outlet on top.

Step 4: Riser Pipes

Screwed into the top of the hydrant, this pipe determines how high above your crop your sprinkler will spray.

Step 5: Sprinkler Heads - Find on our shop!

Available on our shop is one of the most popular sprinkler ranges in S.A. - for good reason! Tried and proven!

Optional Step 6: Specialised Fittings

Sometimes, depending on the design, Tee’s, Reducers, Crosses, etc., all specialised fittings, are required.

Step 7: Male End Caps

Used to end the line of Quick Coupling. Due to the lip-sealing method of this system, a male end cap is used at the end of the line. If a female end  cap is required, it is available but know that it's not how this system is made to be used.

Hectare Layout Options

Check out our images for a full diagram! Making it easy peasy!

We also have a bundle deal up in the same range, where you can choose how many lines of each diameter you'd want for a 100m length :)

How many 5.8m pipe lengths do you need?

  • Pipe Lengths Required Per Row (X in this example) = Length of Row ÷ Length of Pipes
  • X = 165 (example only) ÷ 5.8 (our standard pipe length for courier)
  • X = 28.4 Pipe Lengths
  • X = 28 Pipe Lengths (round down to the nearest even number, since your sprinkler will cover the distance that your last 5.8m pipe would have reached)

How many sprinkler sets do you need based on pipe lengths?

  • Sprinkler Sets Required Per Row (Y in this example) = Pipes ÷ 2
  • Y  = 28 (as in example above) ÷ 2
  • Y = 16 Sprinkler Sets

How many sprinkler rows do you need?

  • Sprinkler Rows Required (Z in this example) = Width of field ÷ 12 (industry standard for sprinkler radius)
  • Z = 115 (as an example) ÷ 12
  • Z = 9.58 Rows
  • Z = You can either choose 9 Rows (and then space them further apart to cover gap) or 10 Rows (and then space them closer together for efficient overlay)

What Pipe Diameter do you need?

  • Riser Pipe Heights 10mm to 500mm - We recommend a 50mm Dia. Pipe
  • Riser Pipe Heights 400mm to 750mm - We recommend a 63mm Dia. Pipe
  • Riser Pipe Heights 600mm to 1000mm - We recommend a 75mm Dia. Pipe
  • Riser Pipe Heights 750mm to 1200mm - We recommend a 90mm, 100mm and 120mm Dia. Pipe
